Grand Vintage 2012 is a gentle, fresh and harmonious especially dry champagne, with Chardonnay (41%) dominating the composition, and Pinot noir (33%) coming out strongly against the dominance of Meunier (26%). The winter chill persisted through the icy spring to summer, when the dry, suffocating heat shook the vines back to life, finally producing a small but extraordinary harvest that was both sweeter and more acidic than Champagne’s harvests. “Wines made from black grapes, especially the usually very sensitive Meunier, were 2012. ” they’re very good, which explains why they make up an important part of the composition, ” said Moët & Chandon’s chef de cave, Benoît Gouez. ‘This Grand Vintage is a softly fresh and harmonious wine whose flavours come forth slowly to consistently, like a gentle transition from spring to summer, and which brings a crisp yet balanced bouquet of flavours to the palate.”Maturation time in the basement: 5 years + 6 months after reworking
